CAMPUS CELEBRATIONS
Our celebrations on campus help our students explore a melting pot of cultures and traditions, both- of their own and of their peers. As part of the campus celebrations, each grade is put in charge of planning and executing important festivals and events celebrated locally, nationally and internationally. These celebrations are designed in a way that each student develops an deep understanding and appreciation of unity in diversity by the time they graduate.
CLASSIC PROGRAMS
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
We groom a disciplined unit of NCC cadets consisting of students who are interested in honing their leadership skills and achieving all-round development through the wide range of activities that NCC provides.
The NCC cadets of Kodagu Vidyalaya have actively participated in the NCC-TSC and RD Camp, New Delhi and the All India G.V Maulankar Shooting Competition. In these events, they have been beacons of dedication and excellence.
Bharath Scouts and Guides
We contribute to responsible citizenship with our own troop of the Bharath Scouts and Guides. The Bharath Scouts and Guides of Kodagu Vidyalaya are generally students of Grade 5, Grade 6 and Grade 7 who follow the principles set forth by Lord Baden Powell to develop physical strength, endurance, mental alertness and moral integrity.
HOBBY CLASSES
We believe that each student is incomparable, unique and ought to be encouraged to develop his or her own interests and strengths, authentically. Therefore, a range of hobby classes are conducted in school from 3pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday, where the students can freely explore their creative potential. Some of the classes conducted are Freestyle Dance, Classical Dance, Taekwondo, Karate, Painting, Instrumental Music and Classical Music.
CLUBS
We have a range of clubs designed to suit the different inclinations of its students to provide the opportunity for them to mingle with those having similar interests and foster team-spirit among themselves. The list of clubs are as follows:
Literary Club- The members think, read and express on topics of their interest and in their choice of languages. They share their insights on politics, philosophy, philanthropy. The club organizes various activities like poetry writing, story writing, recitation, storytelling, extempore and essay writing.
Eco Club- The members promote the ethos of conservation of water by optimizing the use of water. The members also imbibe habits and lifestyle for minimum waste generation, source separation of waste and disposing of waste.
Heritage Club- The members organise group discussions, model making, virtual tours, quizzes and folk tales to increase awareness of the rich natural and cultural heritage of their locality, state and country.
Math Club- The members visualize and comprehend mathematical concepts and translate theory into practice, to apply their learning to daily life. This club is involved in model making, arranging for exhibition, field work and laboratory work.
Science Club- The members engage in seminars, workshops, exhibitions and quiz competitions to inculcate in-depth knowledge in the field of science. The club provides an opportunity to learn about different scientific concepts, conduct experiments and participate in a range of scientific activities.
Newspaper In Education Club- The members develop the skills of journalism, photography, illustration and publication.
Cookery Club- The members explore various cooking techniques and a wide variety of ingredients. They learn healthy recipes and the art of improving existing recipes. This club provides an environment for members to socialize, be creative, learn cooking skills and have fun.
Red Cross Club- The members are involved in preparing a school and a community to respond to emergencies and follow prescribed protocols. The club also leads health campaigns for the School.
Debate/Elocution and Quiz Club- The members strengthen their public-speaking abilities and design fun ways of oration. They research on diverse topics and present the same in a unique styles. In debates, the members prepare logical arguments, understand counter arguments and prepare rebuttals.
Youth Club- The members focus on developing life skills, building self-esteem, self-confidence and resilience while countering negative emotions of stress, shame and fear. They share their experiences and ways of dealing with different and challenging situations in life.
FIELD TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS
Field trips and excursions are an important part of the curriculum followed by Kodagu Vidyalaya, for all grades. These trips are valuable for the students as it provides needed exposure and strengthens their bond with their peers outside the boundaries of the school campus.
All the trips and excursions are carefully planned and carried out with the diligent supervision of the teaching staff.
