Since its inception Kodagu Vidyalaya has been an environment-friendly school with over 80 percent open and green spaces. The school for generations has inspired students to plant trees and this is evident in the tree filled school campus.

Kodagu Vidyalaya encourages sustainable practices and eco-conscious values into its daily operation, curriculum and culture.

The Management of Kodagu Vidyalaya in this direction is committed towards sustainable development of the school.  In this direction the management has taken a decision that further structural developments or construction will take place in areas of existing floor prints. It is also working towards implementation of water harvesting techniques to recharge all the water sources of the school. In the upcoming toilet renovation projects, the management is focused on using toilets that consume less water and usage of water taps that are water conserving. They also hope to use sustainable materials in the future projects and thus reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a cleaner environment. All lights in the school are already changed to 4k led lights to reduce consumption of electricity.

Students are inspired to become eco-conscious citizens and leaders and are encouraged to participate in tree planting programs and cleaning the roads and footpaths in the neighbouring community. Students are taught about water conservation, waste reduction, recycling and composting programs as part of their curriculum.

Walking is a healthy eco-friendly transportation option. The school campus is blessed with up and down natural trekking pathways within the campus to the classrooms, grounds and parking areas that encourage children to walk and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
