Our Special Needs School

KODAGU VIDYALAYA OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL

In 1995, Late Sri B.K. Subiah, Smt. Meena Cariappa and a few like-minded visionaries saw the need for supporting differently-abled children in the district of Kodagu, in Karnataka. There was no facility for special children in the district. Their vision led to the founding of ‘OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL’ for the differently-abled in 1996, at Madikeri, in the premises of Kodagu Vidyalaya.

The Opportunity School is a charitable organisation to help children with various challenges - both Physical and Mental. It has since made its best effort to help the children reach their maximum potential and also to spread awareness on disability in the district.

The children are educated and trained completely free of cost.

The Kodagu Vidyalaya Opportunity school is run by the Kodagu Vidyalaya Opportunity School Trust, as an independent entity.

The Management of Kodagu Vidyalaya school supports all the activities of the opportunity school and assists their operations whenever required.

SAHAYOG:

An initiative to help the parents of the children of Kodagu Vidyalaya Opportunity School.

Opportunity School has a well-designed, clean and hygienic kitchen. Hot meals are prepared by the parents and served in the Kodagu Vidyalaya School premises to students and teachers who opt for the lunch program at very reasonable rates. The parents involved in this program receive a monthly stipend that helps them support their families.
